Recording damage

On each view in a condition report you record damage in two ways — often combined. The report type does not change that.

Drawing

Freehand strokes on layers. Use this for areas, gradients, losses, and retouching that you mark as a shape on the artwork image. Each layer has a name, color, opacity, and order; strokes live on a layer. You set opacity per layer in the layer panel; it is saved with the report.

In the PDF, drawings appear on the mapping page (SVG), together with markers as an overlay. In the web app, very large artwork photos stay sharp when you zoom (tiles); details: Image formats.

Annotation (damage marker)

Point markers with a damage type, severity, comment, and optional detail photos. A marker sits at a position on the view.

In the PDF, annotations also appear as a damage catalog (separate pages with photo, position, and metadata) — not only as a symbol on the mapping. The SVG export includes drawings and markers.

Together

Typical pattern: sketch the area, then pin the concrete damage as a marker with a photo. Both kinds can be undone.

On iPad, zoom and pan with two fingers, even while drawing or erasing. A stroke you just started is discarded.

Colors, layers, and marker types are set organization-wide: Damage types, colors & layers. For frame damage without a photo underlay: Schematic frame.
