Views

Many objects need more than one photo: front and reverse, a detail, raking light. In Documentr these perspectives are views.

The split matters: the artwork holds the current photo set. A condition report keeps copies from the moment of inspection — so the record stays true even if the catalog photo changes later.

Photos on the artwork

You can store up to eight labeled photos per artwork. The first is the primary view used in lists and thumbnails. Add and name further views as needed — from a file or the media library.

You do not map damage on the artwork itself, and you do not place a schematic frame there; that belongs on the condition report.

Taking them into a condition report

When you create a report, choose which artwork photos to include. All are selected by default; you can clear some or take none and add views later.

Copied images are snapshots: later catalog changes do not alter the report. Order follows the artwork so follow-up reports can match views by position.

A report may also have up to eight views, including schematic frames.

Mapping damage

On the report you see the views at a glance and open mapping for the perspective you need. You can add, rename, or remove photo or frame views while the report is still editable.

iPad

On the iPad you can also choose artwork views at create time, or start without copying any. Mapping still happens per view. A gallery on the report detail screen comes later.
